Mid North Archers held their annual Christine Player Memorial Shoot today. A large number of archers from across SA attended and Pirie put on good weather for the day. Three club members took the trip up to shoot. Congratulations to Craig from second place in the open men's recurve and Michael and Grant for picking up first and second place in the masters mens compound.

Thanks to MNA for the shoot and one of the best lunches you will get at a club tournament.

World Record!

On Saturday 28th May, Barossa Archery Club hosted the local leg of the World Crossbow Postal Prone Championship. We had four competitors in two categories - three Target crossbows and one Medieval crossbow.

Both categories shoot on a 40cm target face, with Target crossbows in the prone position at 70m, and Medieval crossbows competing in the kneeling position at 50m. Each shoot 60 bolts for a maximum score of 600 points.

Andrew Fores achieved a new world record score (489 points) beating the previous mark by 9 points. The other competitors also achieved good results.

The competitors were Greg Mitchell (Great Southern Archers), Andrew Fores (Southern Vales Archery Club), Graeme Hahn (HILLS ARCHERS) and Simon Bollen (Cressy Bowmen).

Final results will be announced in October after all scores from around the world have been compiled.

Torrens Valley Archers held the annual Philadelphia shoot today - BAC was well represented, with Michael and Craig coming in second and third overall. Congratulations to Craig who won the Male Recurve division. The Philadelphia is a 210 arrow shoot, 30 arrow ends from 100m down to 40m and I recommend if you can, making the trip to Birdwood to shoot it next year. ... See MoreSee Less
